Works for me!

Mbele takes on the arduous task of comparing American and African cultural differences, focusing mostly on Tanzanian culture and customs - and he does this in less than 100 pages. Anyone interested in this topic will find mostly anecdotal comments and observations from someone who has spent time on both continents. In the end Mbele notes that people are different and that we should embrace and accommodate our differences as much as possible. This is a good book with good information to consider if you are traveling to Africa anytime soon or hosting an exchange student from Africa.

I am traveling to Tanzania later this year as part of a faculty exchange program and found Mbele's comments and observations useful. I was very glad to discover that many Tanzanians appreciate good beer and that the overall pace of life is a bit slower than that found in the US. I'm was already looking forward to the trip and after reading this book I am even more excited. Asante sana Prof. Mbele!

A name of a Nazi that he is willing to climb heaven and earth to find. All the more reason to capture an old thug who lives in the outskirts of D.C. while living life to the full. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Shamir would pay a cool one million dollars for the man known as the "Beast of Belsen" in hopes of being reelected. One Josef Kramer is now in the anonymous international spotlight. The former SS commandant who was thought to be hanged - unknowingly escaped while another officer was hanged in his stead. Hightower puts Lane on a fast-track to Dublin, Ireland. Where Lane and his Alpha Team meet up with Storm McGinty who will help in the hunt. The embarrassed Royal Family find out that Kramer had bribed a British colonel in order to get out of prison, and that he was still alive and may have an escape story to tell to the press. Lane is thick in the mix and knows who else is right there with him. The British SAS and the Russian mafia do not want Kramer captured and want him dead. The Texan finds himself in a scandalous race where the only rule is his rule. Where the only truth is more lies.

I am fond of thrill and suspense stories. I love reading books that keep me engaged and connected with the story of the book. And this book did the same. I found this book really exciting and entertaining. It reminded me of the amazing and suspenseful stories about secret agents of old times. Since the book is based on a real life Nazi hunt, it is indeed a reading pleasure. I really enjoy the way the author plotted the life of early twentieth century, when many felonies, confrontations and wars were going on. Having a crime solving thriller genre makes the book even more interesting as twists and turns in the story are quite unexpected in a surprising way. Despite using fiction characters, it is written in such a way that it has full grip on readers mind. If you are looking for a book full of suspense and thrill, this is a one good book to read.

This first installment of the Lujack Lane series made me think back to the wonderfull spy thrillers of old, like Boys from Brazil and Day of the Jackal with it's action, it's carefull character interactions, and the feeling that no one is safe and no one except your gun can be trusted.

Base on the real life nazi hunt, this thriller is fast paced, action filled and chilingly realistic, the plot line is not something that could happen, rather it was something that did happen, and although the characters are fictional, that only leads credability to the truth that 'real life is stranger than fiction'

Can't wait to read the next book!

About the Author
Laetitia Zecchini is a permanent researcher at the CNRS in Paris, France. She has published extensively on Arun Kolatkar and on modern Indian literature. Her research interests focus on contemporary Indian poetry and on the politics of literature, on postcolonial criticism, nonwestern modernisms, dalit literatures and South Asian literary history. She is the translator of Kolatkar's Kala Ghoda Poems (2013) into French.

Author Victoria Schlesinger tells the story about the animals and plants most commonly seen in Mundo Maya -- Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras. The book provides a synthesis of current research and will delight specialists and travelers alike. Chapters focus on Pine-Oak, Cloud and Tropical Forests, Savannas, Mangroves and Coral Reefs.
The book is well illustrated with line drawings by Juan C. Chab-Medina. This is a beautiful book which would make an excellent holiday gift. I'm trying to think of a book that has piqued my interest as much as Animals and Plants of the Ancient Maya, and I'd have to put this a category with Lane Simonian's Defending the Land of the Jaguar. Excellent!

Mayan Natural World Revealed

This is an excellent guide for anyone interested in the Mayan world, both past and present. It is also a useful travel companion to take on a trip to Central America. The illustrations are excellent, and Ms Schlesinger writes ina clear, uncluttered style that is a real pleasure to read. A magical book about a people who saw the world through other eyes than our own.

A stunningly imaginative guide to the past

This is one of those incredibly rare guidebooks that pushes past the confines of the genre and brings something totally fresh to the endeavor. I am not a Maya scholar, but Schlesinger's writing is so evocative that I couldn't help but be totally pulled in by her descriptions of the plants and animals that inhabited the Maya world.

There are a few sections on how to build a warehouse, but they're very short and scattered throughout the book. The case studies are variable--each seems to focus on a particular aspect, but that isn't made explicit.
