Among the many books available for Arabic self-study, none seem to match the solid approach served up by Get Fluent in Arabic by Moniur S Rohman. The book is written for a true beginner looking to acquire a level of Arabic that enables one to communicate well. It really helped me to learn Arabic effortlessly. As it says it really has unique listening, speaking, reading and writing exercises that can improve our fluency faster with the using of correct grammar. Highly recommend this book!

a great resource

I'm am a beginner sewer and have several sewing books with included patterns (the built by wendy books and a tilly and the buttons book). This book is similar to the others in that it goes over much of the same things, but has a lot more projects. The downside to any of these books for me is sometimes a simple illustration + a block of text really doesn't explain to me what to do. It can be confusing. This book just uses illustrations of the steps. I think with practice though, the steps will begin to make sense.

The book is is divided into three sections: an into, the projects, and a how to sew. The projects pages tell you which "how to sew" pages you should reference. So, it's best to read the entire book before you sit down to sew (which doesn't take long).

It was has two positives: the number of projects - 30. they are dresses, skirts, jackets, pants, vest, pillows, curtains, aprons, and a bowtie. there is a range of difficulty so you can choose which projects you'd like based on your skill set. also, the book tells you what type of fabrics would work well for the project.

the patterns are on an included disc with i felt was annoying at first, but i kind of like it now. you can print as many copies as you need for the various sizes you may need and will never need to trace/transfer a pattern!

i think it's a great book to have because the projects really are lovely. and unlike some books i've seen wear the sewing looks cheap and the draping is wonky, this book models perfection.

This is my first negative review. The projects int his book are beautiful and varied but the instructions are horrendous. Upon first glance, they are detailed enough. A couple of times a step or two was skipped but even that I was willing to overlook. Unfortunately on three different occasions measurements on pattern pieces were an inch or more off, to the detriment of the project. I tried adjusting the seam allowances and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Beautiful book but there is little value in a poorly drafted pattern.

I just finished reading this book. Sandy and David, the authors, have shared their Asperger's journey without holding back. They are an inspirational mother and son team. Their thoughts and insights can be applied to many "non-typical" children. The book is very well written and is filled with useful lessons. It's a wonderful story.

A new take on paranormal romance....

I'm not going to lie, when it comes to paranormal romance books, I can be a bit critical. I mean, there's only so many times I can read practically the same story about a passionate yet dangerous werewolf or a sparky vampire before rolling my eyes at the predictability of it all. This book, however, was not predictable in the slightest. I will not reveal the entire supernatural premise of the book because part if the fun is figuring it out as the main character does, but what i will say is that it is utterly unique and I have yet to read anything similar to it. The romance between Zane and Piper is also unique in that their interactions were natural and entertaining and not stilted and awkward like you might find in other romances. Piper's internal dialogue will make you laugh out loud, and Zane's frustratingly gorgeous good looks will have you swooning at the turn of every page. All and all, I gave this book five stars because it captured, and held, my attention for the solid three hours I spent reading it. Can't wait to read the sequel!

The world building was great (though I wish the accents were explained) and the plot was intriguing and original. I'm only taking two points off because the constant one liners and vulgar exclamations felt forced and tired after the second chapter or so, and also there were a ton of mistakes. Misspellings, wrong words (rouse instead of ruse???). I don't know if Weil has no editor or if the editor is horrible...but I hope this issue gets fixed before she publishes the sequel.

I'd call this a 2.5, really. The world-building, fine. Certain plot twists are obvious well in advance. The romance, meh. There's no reason for Piper to even like Zane except "OMG he's super hot!" plus some stuff about their souls resonating, but seriously he's such a jerk that it should have completely turned her off him. And did anyone else feel like they were reading Twilight? Hot, broody guy acts like a jerk to the main character, has a supernatural secret, and holy s*** sneaks into her room while she's sleeping! Just...no to that one.

And the typos! Spellcheck only checks that a word exists. It does not tell you whether the word is the correct one for that sentence. Replacing "compromising" with "comprising" can be put down to a brain fart or a slip-up on the keyboard, but the author also seems not to know what certain words mean. Case in point, describing a character as "hassling with himself." I couldn't even figure out what word she meant to say.

I dunno about reading the next book. My gut says not, although my mind would probably be changed if the typos were fixed in the Kindle edition. At least then the story's merits would probably be enough for me to want to find out what happens.

Universal Principals...

This book is about universal principles relating to Christian teachings. However, these universal principles were created by God and are taught quite extensively throughout the Word. For example; Pat speaks of the law of reciprocity which the unsaved world calls "karma". Jesus taught reciprocity when he said "Give and it shall be given to you." Newton even taught about it: "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Pat explains this principle and many more as how they relate to the Word and how they can work in your lives. If you're looking for no nonsense, Bible based yet scientifically grounded teachings...read this book!
